Friday was the final day !!!
After a long week of riding, time has come for the final ride. For the final adventure in Mallorca, the ride for the day had something special… an ending at Cap de Formentor.

This was a very suitable and perfect ending to the best week of riding ever !!! Riding from the hotel, and ride to the lighthouse at end of the island…. Epic !!!!!!

After 4 days of riding, it was finally the day to tackle the queen stage of our Tour de Mallorca.
Just over 80 miles of riding, almost 9,500 ft of climbing, this was a serious riding day in Mallorca… or anywhere.
The climbing would start after just 5 miles, as always, I was the last to leave the hotel, after sleeping in a little bit more, and taking the time for a large breakfast… no matter, the day was going to be long and hard, and I would meet up with everyone …

Wednesday was the mid-week rest day with an optional easy spin ride, and I took the chance to visit the city of Palma.
Going to Palma, you have to visit the Cathedral:

Palma is an historic city with lots of interesting area to visit, but the touristic area is way over-developed, so it loses it’s charm. Still, definitely worth a visit.
Beyond Palma, driving around the island is very pleasurable, and each town in the island offers a new perspective, and it’s amazing to walk around in an old town square where seemingly …

Day 3.
Yesterday we had a small taste of the mountains and today we started to go deeper into them. As before, the start from the hotel was easy enough, but it’s so impressive to be riding in the flats, with the mountains right in your scopes:

Ahead on the road was the climb to Esporles, the first of 5 big cat 3 climbs on this day.
After the climb, we were treated with a spectacular view to the Mediterranean sea.

After a warm up ride on the day before, day 2 was the start of the mountain climbs.
Same as the day before, the weather was picture perfect… time to leave the hotel… felt like in the godfather movie, leaving the house in Sicily

Shortly after leaving the hotel, we had a few miles of flat and easy, but it was very short lived, as the mountains of northern Mallorca lurked in the close distance.

The closer I got to the mountains, the more intimidating they looked.

October has come and it’s now time to travel to Mallorca. The first European stop was in Lisbon, where it was time taste the wonderful pastries at Pasteis de belem.
