October has come and it’s now time to travel to Mallorca. The first European stop was in Lisbon, where it was time taste the wonderful pastries at Pasteis de belem.

However after the quick stop in Lisbon, it was time to go onto Palma de Mallorca. it was time to experience low budget travel in Europe… image

An Air Berlin flight was waiting for a direct flight from the Lisbon airport to Palma de Mallorca airport.

It was a great experience, for a very low price, an on-time departure aboard a brand new plane, confortable seat, no drama flight to Palma.

Once in Palma, a quick drive to the Reads hotel, which is the head quarter for this Palma de Mallorca ride camp.

This very nice, very quaint hotel, sits in Santa Maria de Cami, just outside the city of Palma. more on this hotel, with plenty of photos on a later post.

Sunday morning, it was time to wake up and experience the first riding day. As always, before riding, we should always have a good breakfast.

Today was no exception.

Onto the riding.

On the Trek Travel Mallorca ride camp, waiting for me was a Trek Madone 6 series, full Dura-Ace with Bontrager Race XXX Lite.

After a quick fitting session, where I brought my own pedals and shoes (always a good thing to do on your cycling trips), I was ready… Team Rodrigo, wearing Haymarket Bicycles jersey and was ready to go out onto the roads of Palma de Mallorca.

Out of the courtyard gate, onto the roads of Palma de Mallorca !!!!!!

That was just the path out of the courtyard… the roads in Mallorca are much better Winking smile … not much wider, but much better.

After a month battling a calf injury, with PT sessions (Holly always takes good care of my injuries) and a week battling fever and flu, I was looking forward to a nice easy flat ride for day #1: This was a preparation for the things to come… During the flat ride, the mountains lurked in the distance:

Several small villages along the way, made the beautiful weather for an even better ride day:

Tomorrow, the day will much harder, as the serious climbs are about to start, and I’ll be here to tell you all about it.
